Ms. Gusti Yehoshua-Braverman. The lecture "Israel-Diaspora Relations, one Nation?!"

On September 8, 2020, guests of the online studio "Limonad" attended the lecture "Israel-Diaspora Relations, one Nation?!" that was presented by the Head of the Department for Diaspora Affairs at the World Zionist Organization Ms. Gusti Yehoshua-Braverman. The meeting was held within the framework of the final meeting of the Zionist conference "Aleph-Bet" organized by the Zionist Federation of Ukraine in partnership with Tavrida National V.I. Vernadsky University. The conference turned to online format in connection with the epidemic.

On November 29 the decisive moment in the history of Israel happened. On this day in 1947 the UN Assembly adopted the Partition Plan for Palestine. It became a crucial step for the international community to recognize Israel as a separate state.

 Zoom presentation of the professor of McGill university Gill Troy “Identity Zionism – the answer to the question “Who needs Zionism today?” was provided in honor of this date.

The opening words said executive director of ZFU Elena Zaslavskaya noticing the relevance of studying the history of Zionism in post-Soviet countries and rabbi Dov Lipman  - a former member of Knesset, one of the heads of the World Confederation of United Zionists.

PROJECT: UKRAINE IN THE ZIONIST WORLD

Seminar-lecture on the history of Zionism and Jewish history in a Zionist key for teachers of Jewish disciplines and employees of educational programs of Jewish communities of Ukraine, as well as for students and teachers of Jewish disciplines in Ukrainian universities involving representatives of the Zionist Federations of Europe.

Unique methods of monitoring and analyzing manifestations of antisemitism and xenophobia have been working in Ukraine for more than 30 years, which make it possible to track trends of these phenomena. The results of this monitoring for Ukraine are used in the world report on antisemitism.

PROJECT: Survey research «What is Zionism and what are its main principles»

The question of Zionism and its history began to be raised in the post-Soviet space only in the 90s of the twentieth century after Ukraine gained independence. Over the past 30 years, much has been done to familiarize representatives of the Jewish community with this topic, but nevertheless many questions remain unresolved until now.
